In order to improve access to healthcare for residents of rural areas, officials in Robstown and surrounding communities are working tirelessly to expand services at the Johnny Calderon Building. Currently, the Public Health Services at the building are only available twice a week, which has made it difficult for some individuals to access essential healthcare services.
However, Nueces County Director of Health and Wellness, Xavier Gonzalez, has emphasized the importance of increasing access to healthcare for those living in outlying areas. As a result, plans are being put in place to extend hours at the Johnny Calderon Building from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., starting October 1st.
This expansion will make it easier for residents of rural areas to access important healthcare services without having to travel long distances. Joe Gonzalez, Nueces County Commissioner Precinct Two, has highlighted the county’s efforts to finalize a contract with a new vendor, Amistad, who will provide these important services.
The success of the Operation Health and Wellness Program has identified a significant need for expanded healthcare services in rural areas. With this expansion aiming to address the needs of the community and provide essential healthcare services to those who require them.
