I was late for dinner with my wife last night because I got a flat tire on my bike. Feeling frustrated, I began to contemplate the idea of having a tracking device that could be placed on myself or my bicycle. This way, my wife could monitor my whereabouts and speed of travel in real-time. For example, she would have been able to see that I was walking at a slow pace far from home today.
As I pondered this idea, I learned from a hair stylist that she keeps track of her kids’ locations using their cellphones. This made me wonder if there was a similar tracking method that did not involve a cellphone. After all, certain convicted criminals are required to wear GPS tracking devices, which sparked my curiosity about obtaining one for myself.
While tracking devices are commonly used in cars, I wondered if it would be feasible to have one that I could carry with me without relying on a cellphone. A suggestion was made for me to simply carry a cellphone, but I pondered the idea of having an alternative method of tracking my movements.
