Over the past two decades, remarkable progress has been made in reducing maternal deaths worldwide. Nevertheless, disparities in maternal and perinatal health persist, particularly in low-income countries and within disadvantaged groups in high-income nations. The article stresses the necessity of a comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to maternal deaths to develop effective policies and health programs that tackle the diverse challenges faced by women worldwide.
