Alyshia Meyers, a Forensic Scientist with seven years of experience, spoke at the Portage Public Library this afternoon for an event called All About Forensics Science. The program, part of the Library’s Community STEM Cafe, was made possible by a mini grant from the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 and attracted a handful of families.
Meyers emphasized the importance of sparking children’s interest in science at an early age, stating that the STEM field is always growing. By doing so, she believes that it sets them up for success in the future. Meyers shared her knowledge and passion for forensic science with the audience at the event.
The event was an excellent opportunity for families and individuals to learn more about Forensic Science and its importance in today’s society. The support from the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 and the Portage Public Library allowed for this educational experience to take place, engaging the community in a conversation about the fascinating world of forensics.
