Duke Johnson declares his retirement from professional football

In a heartfelt social media post on Sunday, running back Duke Johnson announced his retirement. The former NFL player took a moment to reflect on his journey, acknowledging that he never imagined becoming the all-time leading rusher at the University of Miami. Despite humble beginnings, Johnson went on to achieve great success in the league.

Johnson was selected by the Browns in the third round of the 2015 draft and spent two seasons in Cleveland, where he ran 299 times for 1,286 yards and five touchdowns. He also proved to be a valuable asset in the passing game, accumulating 235 catches for 2,170 yards and eight scores.

In 2019, Johnson was traded to the Texans and spent two seasons in Houston before returning to Miami to play for the Dolphins in 2021. Even though he had a brief stint with the Bills in 2022, Johnson’s career stats speak for themselves – with 532 carries for 2,265 yards and 311 catches for 2,870 yards. Throughout his career, he scored a total of 23 touchdowns.

As he closes this chapter of his life, Johnson expressed gratitude for the opportunities he had and the memories he made during his time in the NFL. With his retirement, he leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by fans and teammates alike.
