Yelp selects the top 10 local businesses in 10 different categories annually based on customer reviews. To be considered a local business by Yelp’s standards, a company must be independently owned and operated. The ranking is determined by various factors such as customer satisfaction ratings and overall popularity among reviewers. Only one business per state is included in each category to ensure geographic diversity on the list.
