Secretary of Economy states that Tesla Gigafactory in Mexico remains unaffected by layoffs

The recent global staff reduction at Tesla will not impact the construction of Giga Mexico, as confirmed by the State Secretary of Economy of Nuevo León. In an interview with Milenio, Iván Rivas Rodríguez stated that the work on Tesla Giga Mexico is progressing as planned, and the company’s investment in the municipality of Santa Catarina remains on track.

Rodríguez reassured that despite some employees receiving notification via email that they were being laid off, the construction of the plant is ongoing and that the collaboration with Tesla has not changed. He stated that there is no perceived risk, and everything is proceeding as planned in coordination with the company.

Following the recent staff reductions at Tesla, some employees received notification via email that they were being laid off. The email cited the need for cost reductions and increased productivity as the company prepares for its next phase of growth. However, workers at Tesla Giga Berlin in Europe have not received any news of impending layoffs. Reports of potential job cuts in Berlin have been refuted by Tesla, emphasizing the need to go through the appropriate channels to lay off workers in Germany.
