Global Health Leaders to Discuss Strategies for Equitable Healthcare for Women in Africa: A Challenging Journey Towards Gender Equity

The challenges of achieving gender equity in healthcare for women in Africa are numerous and complex, and they arise from a variety of factors such as poverty, economic disparities, sexual violence, and gender-based discrimination. As global health leaders, it is imperative to recognize the importance of equal access to healthcare in improving women’s health outcomes on the continent.

To address these issues, two prominent global health leaders from Africa will be sharing their insights and strategies for improving equitable healthcare for women during an upcoming program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The speakers include Awa Marie Coll Seck, Former Senior Minister to the President of Senegal and Richard L. and Ronay A. Menschel Senior Leadership Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, as well as Lia Tadesse Gebremedhin, Former Minister of Health of Ethiopia and Executive Director of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

The discussion will be moderated by Wafaie Fawzi, Richard Saltonstall Professor of Population Sciences, and Professor of Nutrition, Epidemiology, and Global Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. If you are interested in participating in this important conversation or submitting questions to the speakers, you can register for free online today. The program will be recorded for those who cannot attend live, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn more about how we can improve healthcare outcomes for women in Africa!
