A new report released by Tel Aviv University, in partnership with the Jewish organization Anti-Defamation League (ADL), sheds light on a global increase in anti-Semitism, particularly in countries with significant Jewish populations like the United States, France, United Kingdom, Argentina, Germany, Australia, and Brazil. The data collected from official sources, Jewish organizations, and media platforms shows a rapid rise in anti-Semitic incidents since the beginning of the conflict in the Middle East. Even before the Israeli counteroffensive in Gaza after an attack by Hamas on October 7, cases of anti-Semitism were already escalating.
The report highlights that most anti-Semitic incidents in the US involved harassment of Jews. In 2022, there were approximately 5,256 reported incidents compared to 2,298 incidents in 2019. Cases of vandalism increased from 107 in 2019 to 344 in 2023. Assault reports totaled 161 incidents compared to only six incidents reported between January and September of that year.
