Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City recently took part in the 2024 Arizona Science and Engineering Fair held from April 4-6 in Tempe. During the fair, seniors Daneyah Chief and Shyla Manygoats presented their project titled “Enhancing water quality in arid regions: a sustainable approach for safe drinking water.” Their work caught the attention of the judges, leading them to win three prestigious awards in the earth and environmental category.

Out of 383 senior contestants from across Arizona, Chief and Manygoats secured top spots, earning both medals and cash prizes for their outstanding work. The project focused on finding innovative ways to improve water quality in arid regions, an essential issue that is particularly relevant in many communities.

Chief and Manygoats’ research emphasized the importance of finding sustainable solutions for safe drinking water in these areas.
