Halle Berry is a renowned director and an Oscar-winning actor, but these days she can be found advocating for better research and treatment options for menopause. When Berry, 57, went through menopause, she realized that she knew very little about this life stage, like many other women. Her doctors did not prepare her for the disruptive symptoms she experienced, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and brain fog. Feeling like she had to simply grit her teeth and endure, Berry decided to take action.
Berry spoke out about her experience and shifted the focus of her wellness platform, Re-Spin, to center around menopause. She has made multiple visits to Congress, meeting with lawmakers like Washington Sen. Patty Murray, to work towards legislation that would increase federal investment in research on midlife women’s health, establish an awareness and education program on menopause, and offer grants for healthcare workers seeking to expand their training.
Berry’s main goal is to reduce the stigma around menopause. She envisions a world where entering this life stage is celebrated
