The Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Caring Foundation recently received a generous donation of $24,000 from three hockey teams – the Bismarck Bobcats, UND Fighting Hawks, and the Fargo Force. This contribution will go towards supporting a program called Sources of Strength, which aims to spread mental health research and curriculum in rural areas of the state.
Sources of Strength will be implemented in four school districts located in the northeastern corner of North Dakota. The program will provide students with tools to navigate life’s challenges effectively. Amber Blomberg, executive director of the BCBSND Caring Foundation, emphasized the importance of empowering individuals with mental health awareness and education to overcome adversity and build resilience.
The money raised by these hockey teams will enable students to learn about mental health research and curriculum that can help them cope with life’s challenges effectively. Sources of Strength will teach students that everyone faces difficulties and provide them with strategies to manage those difficulties successfully. By promoting mental health awareness and education, the program aims to give individuals the tools they need to overcome adversity and build resilience.
