Pant, Dube, and Samson included in India’s T20 World Cup squad

India has announced its 15-man squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, led by Rohit Sharma. The team includes a number of new additions, including Shivam Dube, Rishabh Pant, and Sanju Samson. This squad will compete in the tournament starting on June 1 in the USA and West Indies, with Hardik Pandya as the vice-captain.

Yuzvendra Chahal has made a comeback to the squad after being left out of India’s recent T20 international squads. He was selected based on his impressive form in the IPL. Chahal joins other spin options such as Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel. The pace attack includes specialists like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh, with Hardik and Dube providing seam-bowling options.

Rohit and Virat Kohli did not play any T20 internationals after the 2022 T20 World Cup until they were selected for the series at home against Afghanistan in January 2024. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been chosen as Rohit’s opening partner, while Shubman Gill is among the four reserve players along with Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan.

The Indian team will kick off their campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup against Ireland on June 5 in New York
