Sports performance/science department at Jets undergoes multiple changes

The Jets have made some changes to their sports performance and sports science staff for the 2024 season. According to ESPN.com’s Rich Cimini, director of high performance Brad DeWeese is no longer with the organization, along with assistant director of high performance Robert Sausaman and director of sports science Matt Sams who were hired under head coach Robert Saleh in 2021. However, Alexander Carnall has taken over as the sports science coordinator.

The departures were not based on performance but rather on the team’s significant injuries along the offensive line in the last two seasons. To address this issue, the team acquired veteran tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses in hopes of improving the line’s performance. Keeping these players healthy will be crucial for the team’s success in the upcoming 2024 season.
