Kirksville High School Girls’ Soccer team secures victory over Battle High School

Kirksville faced off against Battle in their final home game of the regular season. The first half was uneventful with both teams going scoreless until halftime. However, Kirksville came out strong in the second half with two quick goals within the first eight minutes, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Tigers’ Lauren Albright scored two goals early on and continued to dominate the field, eventually scoring a third goal later in the game. Meanwhile, Kirksville maintained possession of the ball and took advantage of Battle’s defensive errors to score additional goals. Lucy Tiedemann scored back-to-back goals, bringing the Tigers’ lead to 4-0. Battle’s goalie, Ainsley Craver, made some impressive saves to temporarily halt Kirksville’s momentum.

Despite their best efforts, Battle couldn’t keep up with Kirksville. Carrigan Maggart assisted Kate Vincent in scoring another goal, and with ten minutes left in the game, Kirksville secured a 7-0 lead over Battle. This marked Battle’s 15th consecutive loss. Kirksville’s victory set them up for their upcoming Class 2 District 8 Tournament against Chillicothe, while Battle will compete in the Class 4 District 6 Tournament against Blue Springs South.
