In May, La Gringuita cookies will be available in the frozen cookies section of Whole Foods stores across South Florida. Each cookie takes just 12 minutes to cook and has a mouthwatering filling. This exciting update was shared by Caroline McGinley, the founder and CEO of La Gringuita cookies. We last featured her 18 months ago during our “Shining A Light” segment on “Dessert Wars.”
Caroline’s brand was selected to participate in Whole Foods’ Local & Emerging Accelerator Program (LEAP) after thousands of applications. The four flavors of her cookies that will be available in the frozen food section of Whole Foods stores in South Florida include Brown Buttah, Chocolate Souffle, El Churro, and The Jammy.
La Gringuita’s quarter-pound stuffed cookies caught Whole Foods’ attention, as they are a unique offering not commonly found in supermarkets. Caroline’s business began in her studio apartment in Uruguay, where she made cookies for her roommates before eventually expanding through social media. American cookies were found to be a rare treat in South America, garnering high interest.
During the pandemic, Caroline relocated to South Florida and began selling her cookies online and at local green markets. Each package contains frozen dough balls that can make four quarter-pound stuffed cookies. La Gringuita offers seasonal flavors alongside its four mainstays. Caroline’s journey is certainly a sweet recipe for success.
