On Saturday at 1 p.m., the Friends of the Community Labyrinth will be hosting a “Walk as One” event at this labyrinth in recognition of World Labyrinth Day.
Every year on the first Saturday of May, people from all around the world come together to celebrate World Labyrinth Day. The event, organized by The Labyrinth Society, aims to bring individuals together globally through their shared love for labyrinths – the meditative and spiritual maze-like paths that have been found throughout history. This year’s event will take place at the labyrinth located on the side lawn of the Episcopal Church of Saints James and Andrew at 8 Church Street in Greenfield.
The Labyrinth Society, an international group dedicated to supporting the use and creation of labyrinths, started World Labyrinth Day in 2009. Labyrinths, which can be traced back over 4,000 years, are said to symbolize unity, peace, and spiritual growth. Currently, there are over 6,000 labyrinths listed on labyrinthlocator.com around the globe.
