Miba, a leading industrial company based in Upper Austria, has experienced significant growth in the past year, with sales increasing by 8.1 percent to 1.205 billion euros. The company’s success is attributed to its innovative solutions and expansion into new markets. In the wind energy sector, Miba’s sales have tripled over the past two years, driven by products such as plain bearings for gears and friction pads for brakes that are installed in wind towers over 400 meters high.
Miba has also seen tremendous success in the e-mobility sector, with sales of components like battery systems and pulse inverters tripling in the past two years. Despite fluctuations in the electric car market, CEO F. Peter Mitterbauer remains optimistic about the company’s future and continues to invest in production facilities and research and development. Miba plans to expand operations in Mexico, China, and Austria while maintaining its global presence with 29 locations across Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
Miba employs over 7,600 people worldwide, with nearly 3,000 workers based in Austria alone. Despite challenges such as rising labor costs and concerns about competitiveness as a manufacturing location, Miba remains committed to its global presence and continuing growth. The company has registered almost half of its 48 new patents and utility models last year from the e-mobility sector.
