This weekend, NASCAR races will take place at Richmond Raceway. The Xfinity teams will kick off their season on Saturday with a busy day of practice, qualifying, and racing at the .75-mile Virginia track. Cup teams will also be in action on Saturday, practicing and qualifying in preparation for Sunday’s primetime race.
In addition to these races, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour teams will be in action on Friday. Last season, Chandler Smith won the Xfinity race at Richmond while Kyle Larson won the spring Cup race.
The weather for the weekend looks promising with mostly sunny skies and a high of 67 degrees on Friday, a cloudy day with a high of 71 degrees on Saturday, and a high of 70 degrees on Sunday with a 33% chance of rain at the start of the Cup race. Trackhouse Racing drivers Daniel Suarez and Ross Chastain are looking to secure their second win of the season at Richmond.
On Friday, activities begin with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour garage opening at 9:30 am followed by Xfinity Series activities from 12 pm to 5 pm and Cup Series activities from 4 pm to 9 pm. The Modified Tour includes practice, qualifying, and a race consisting of 150 laps totaling 112.5 miles.
On Saturday, activities begin with the Xfinity Series garage opening at 6:30 am followed by Cup Series activities opening at 8 am. Track activities for the day include Xfinity practice and qualifying as well as Cup practice and qualifying. The Xfinity race is set to take place at 1:30 pm featuring 250 laps totaling 187.5 miles.
Lastly, on Sunday, the garage opens for the Cup race at 7 pm where it promises to be an exciting and action-packed weekend for NASCAR fans as it broadcasted on Fox, Motor Racing Network
