The field for Sunday’s race at Dover Motor Speedway is set, with Kyle Busch leading the charge. He was the fastest during Saturday’s qualifying session at the 1-mile banked concrete track, making it to the final round alongside William Byron, Alex Bowman, and AJ Allmendinger. Ryan Blaney was the fastest Ford driver in qualifying, coming in second behind Busch. Noah Gragson, Chase Briscoe, and Michael McDowell also made it to the second round in their Fords. Unfortunately, Erik Jones will miss Sunday’s race after suffering a compression fracture in a lower vertebra last week at Talladega.
The only Toyota drivers to make it to the second round of qualifying were Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin. Martin Truex Jr., last season’s winner at Dover, qualified in 15th place, while Jimmie Johnson had the fifth-fastest time during practice but qualified in 27th place. The race will start at 2:11 p.m., with coverage on FS1 starting with NASCAR RaceDay at 1 p.m.
