Southern Team Automotive Group recently opened a new Hyundai sales and service center in Roanoke County, with 200 vehicles in stock and plans to add more in the future. The center, located at 7300 Williamson Road, employs a total of 45 people, including 18 new hires and 27 individuals from the dealership’s former address nearby. President David Dillon mentioned that the company will be preparing additional acreage behind the center for expanded inventory and other opportunities.
Meanwhile, three businesses were recognized by the Botetourt County School Board under the Business Honor Roll of the Virginia School Boards Association for their support of local schools and communities. Altec Industries of Daleville provided prize money for a high school-level “innovation challenge” that allowed students to develop projects for community improvement. Gala Industries of Eagle Rock committed $30,000 towards the expansion of a welding facility at the Botetourt Technical Education Center in Fincastle. Tyler Painter, an extension agent with Virginia Cooperative Extension, served as a guest teacher in elementary classrooms, covering topics such as English and language arts, biology, and job-acquisition skills.
The best-selling Hyundai model nationally is the Tucson, with a base price of $27,500 and 61,194 units sold from January 1 to April 30. The center offers gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants of this popular SUV.
