Nine teams, out of 20 participating in this year’s T20 World Cup, will be playing matches at the New York venue next month. The most highly anticipated match at the venue is on 9 June when arch-rivals India and Pakistan face off in their ongoing rivalry.
Aside from India and Pakistan, the other teams playing at the New York venue include host USA, neighbors Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands and Bangladesh. The venue has been specially constructed for the tournament and the conditions are expected to provide a fair contest between bat and ball.
Tournament director Hough is hopeful that the T20 pitch at the venue will have good pace, bounce and will offer value for shots to the players. The goal is to produce pitches that align with these objectives from the start, in order to create an exciting and competitive atmosphere for the matches.
