Nintendo’s New Game Console and Upcoming Nintendo Direct Event: Everything You Need to Know

Nintendo has announced that they will be unveiling their new game console, which will succeed the Nintendo Switch, sometime during this fiscal year. The company has also revealed a new Nintendo Direct event set for June, where they will discuss the games coming to the current hardware in the second half of the year.

The original Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 after being announced two years earlier. Subsequent updates included models with longer battery life and an OLED screen, as well as the introduction of the portable-only Switch Lite.

President of Nintendo, Shuntaro Furukawa, confirmed that the new console will be revealed before the end of the fiscal year, which extends until March 2025. Furukawa emphasized that this successor console is set to launch over nine years since the original Switch was announced.

The upcoming Nintendo Direct event in June will focus on software lineup for the Nintendo Switch in latter half of 2024, bringing new game announcements and updates for current hardware. However, it was emphasized that this event will not cover any information related to successor console.
