In 2021, Oracle Corp. announced its plans to build a massive campus in Nashville, Tennessee. The city was chosen as the company’s world headquarters due to its strong presence in the U.S. health care industry and its appeal as a place to live and raise a family.
The new campus will serve as Oracle’s global hub and will house more than 8,500 jobs over the next ten years. The company has invested $65 million in state incentives for the location, which will bring more than $1 billion in investment to Nashville. The campus will have 1.2 million square feet of office space and will also include plans for a community clinic, a concert venue, a hotel, and a restaurant on the riverfront.
Nashville has become an ideal location for businesses due to its central location within the health care industry and its vibrant culture. Ellison emphasized that being part of a community where people want to live was crucial for Oracle employees and that Nashville met all of their survey criteria. He praised major health care companies such as HCA Healthcare and Change Healthcare that are already based in Nashville.
Oracle’s move from Redwood City, California, to Texas in 2020 paved the way for this new expansion plan in Nashville. Ellison highlighted this investment as reflecting Oracle’s commitment to Nashville and its growing health care industry. With this new location, Oracle is set to continue its expansion into one of the fastest-growing industries in the world while also contributing positively to the city of Nashville’s economy.
