Penn State Health has installed electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at three of its hospitals to accommodate patients, visitors, employees, and students who drive EVs. Hampden Medical Center has eight charging stations located in different areas of the hospital premises, including four in the Employee Lot behind the hospital, two in the Main Visitors Lot, and two in the Emergency Department Lot. Milton S. Hershey Medical Center offers four charging stations located in the Westview Parking Garage near the University Conference Center on the first floor. Lancaster Medical Center has 16 charging stations scattered across the hospital grounds, with a varying charging fee structure.
The fee for charging at these stations is $1 per hour. To facilitate payment, customers can use tap-to-pay credit or debit cards, as well as digital wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay. ChargePoint requires users to enter a payment method during the app setup process. For assistance with charging or any issues, customers can contact ChargePoint Customer Support at 1-888-758-4389.
Customers can charge their vehicles using one of three methods: either by tapping their phone on the station while signed in to the ChargePoint app, tapping their ChargePoint card on the station, or tapping the “Start Charge” button on the station details page of the mobile app. Penn State Health plans to evaluate further opportunities to install additional EV charging stations across its health system in the future.
