In a remarkable move, two Republican lawmakers from Southwest Ohio have introduced House Concurrent Resolution 15, urging the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and the National Baseball Hall of Fame to include Pete Rose on their respective ballots. The resolution, signed by thirteen other lawmakers from the region, highlights Rose’s impressive baseball career and his numerous records.
Pete Rose is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Major League Baseball history. He holds the lifetime MLB record for hits and is the all-time leader in at-bats and games played in Major League Baseball. Furthermore, Rose is recognized as the only MLB player to have played more than 500 games at five different positions.
Despite his undeniable talent and records, Rose has been banned from baseball for his involvement in gambling. The lawmakers behind House Concurrent Resolution 15 believe that it is time for Rose to be given the opportunity for recognition and inclusion in the Hall of Fame. They urge that he be removed from MLB’s “permanently ineligible list” as soon as possible so that he can take his rightful place among the greatest players in baseball history.
