Purdue University’s Teaching Academy recently announced the induction of six new members for 2024. These inductees were recognized for their outstanding and scholarly teaching in graduate, undergraduate, or engagement programs. Two of the inductees come from Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Engineering Technology, including Brittany Newell and Matthew Turner.
The Teaching Academy’s goal is to bring together the best teaching faculty and graduate students across the campus to promote teaching excellence. In collaboration with the Center for Instructional Excellence, the Teaching Academy supports various programs and activities that encourage educational creativity, innovation, and effectiveness both in and outside of the classroom.
Candidates were nominated based on evidence of excellence in teaching, innovation in teaching methodology, teaching-related service, and scholarship in teaching and learning. The new Teaching Academy fellows represent a variety of disciplines, including Engineering Technology, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, and Libraries and School of Information Studies.
Matthew Turner expressed his gratitude for being inducted into the Teaching Academy by saying he is “very honored” to be recognized. He thanked the Teaching Academy members for their leadership in promoting teaching excellence at Purdue Polytechnic’s School of Engineering Technology. He acknowledged the administration, faculty, staff
