Two national NASCAR series will be on track at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday. The Xfinity teams will race at the 2.66-mile superspeedway, while Cup teams will qualify for Sunday’s 500-mile race. Additionally, ARCA Menards Series teams will also be on track for a Saturday afternoon race.
The Xfinity Series has had a long history of racing at Talladega, with Jeb Burton as the defending winner and AJ Allmendinger being the only other driver in the lineup to have won an Xfinity race at the track. Jesse Love and Austin Hill comprise Richard Childress Racing’s Xfinity lineup. Hill has not finished better than 14th in four starts at Talladega, but he leads the series with six wins on drafting style tracks. Chevrolet has secured victory in the last nine Xfinity races at Talladega, with Kaulig Racing contributing four of those wins. Ford has not won an Xfinity race at Talladega since 2017, and Toyota has not won since 2014. This marks the third race of the Dash 4 Cash program, with Sam Mayer, Ryan Sieg, Justin Allgaier, and Allmendinger competing for a $100,000 bonus.
The forecast for Saturday calls for cloudy skies with possible rain showers throughout the day. The high temperature is expected to reach 75 degrees with a 50% chance of rain during the start of the Xfinity race. Chase Elliott stated that he still wants to improve despite his recent performance at Talladega Superspeedway.
