The Indiana Recycling Market Development Program (RMDP) is currently offering grant proposals ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 to fund recycling projects. Eligible applicants include Indiana businesses, local governments, solid waste management districts, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations. To be considered, proposals must showcase sustainability and an understanding of the changing economy for recyclers. The grants can help boost recycling in Indiana by expanding markets, manufacturing capacity, and creating jobs.
Proposals will be accepted until June 13 and must demonstrate economic impact, increased public awareness through outreach and education efforts, and result in at least one of the following outcomes: an increase in the amount of recyclable material collected or used, a reduction in municipal solid waste shipped for final disposal, or improved partnerships with communities. The grants are administered through the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and final funding decisions will be made in the fall.
