CompTIA has recently unveiled its new line of learning and certification programs, the Essentials and Expansion series. These programs are designed to enhance and maintain AI skills in four different AI tech career areas: software development, cybersecurity, systems operations (SysOps), and data analytics, as well as two job roles: prompt engineering and AI systems architecture.
The Essentials Series, set to be released in July 2024, will cover the fundamentals of AI for anyone interested in incorporating it into their work or education. It will provide an overview of the landscape of AI, available tools and best practices for using them, AI challenges and solutions, the benefits of AI for creativity and work enhancement, and the future implications of AI. This program is applicable to all occupations, including both tech-specific positions and adjacent occupations that rely on technology.
On the other hand, the Expansion Series goes beyond the basics and focuses on advanced skills and technology developments in specific job roles for those with a CompTIA Plus (+) or Pro certification in areas such as security engineering, penetration testing, security analysis, data analysis, systems operations, tech support, AI systems architecture, and prompt engineering. Future expansion releases will concentrate on skillsets for fully leveraging AI in these areas. For example, upcoming releases will cover topics such as cyber engineering
