Keanu Dillard, a sophomore at Bethlehem Catholic, has achieved an incredible feat by earning a spot on the U.S. Under-17 Freestyle wrestling team. He will be representing the United States of America in Amman, Jordan. Dillard’s hard work and dedication to the sport of wrestling have paid off as he secured his place on the team by winning the 55-kilogram (121 pounds) class at the U17 world team trials during the U.S. Open event in Las Vegas.
In the final match, Dillard defeated Slater Hicks of Valencia, Calif., with a score of two bouts to zero in the best-of-three final. Dillard impressively did not allow any points, winning 6-0 and 4-0 against his opponent. Dillard’s overall record for his sophomore year was 41-5.
The U-17 world championships will be held in Amman, Jordan, from August 19-25. Dillard’s participation in this prestigious event is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport of wrestling.
