In honor of National Volunteer Week, held from April 19-25, New York Cares is set to offer more than 200 volunteer opportunities for individuals to give back to their community. The organization’s mission is to engage over one thousand volunteers across the five boroughs of New York City, helping those in need.
During this week of service, New York Cares volunteers recently assisted fifth-grade students at PS 135 Sheldon A. Brookner in Brooklyn with science experiments. Through these activities, the students were able to enhance their understanding of core science concepts and apply their knowledge to complete various projects, such as building solar-paneled racers and constructing erupting volcanoes.
These volunteer activities not only provide an opportunity for individuals to make a positive impact in their community but also support those who require assistance.
