Ava Goldsmith, a senior student from Kennedy High School in Bellmore, NY, has been recognized as one of the 15 students on Long Island who have earned a spot in the prestigious International Science and Engineering Fair. This event will take place from May 8th to May 11th in Los Angeles. Goldsmith’s research project focused on the implications of breast cancer therapy, specifically exploring a cancer-promoting network called the “epichaperome.”
Each year, millions of high school students from all over the world participate in Regeneron-affiliated science fairs. However, only around 1,600 students qualify to compete for nearly $5 million in awards, scholarships, and internships. Goldsmith’s success came after winning first place at the 2024 Long Island Science and Engineering Fair in the Cell and Microbiology category. With her three years of experience in advanced science research under her belt, Goldsmith is poised to make a significant impact in her field.
