The 71st annual World’s Biggest Fish Fry returned to Paris, Tenn. on April 20th. This event is a community-wide celebration and a kickoff festival for West Tennessee that attracts people from all over. For a ticket price of $20, visitors can enjoy a plate of catfish, fries, coleslaw, beans, and more at the Fish Tent which opened on April 24th.
Organizer Josh ‘Smokey’ Taylor expressed the importance of this event in bringing people together. To cater to the thousands of visitors who flock to the fish tent each year, a significant amount of food is required. Taylor mentioned that they have 12 thousand pounds of fish, 3 or 4 thousand pounds of fries, and handmade hush puppies in abundance. This amount of food is enough to serve 320 people every hour.
The World’s Biggest Fish Fry continues until Saturday, April 27th with operating hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 9 pm. However, the event organizers have assured that they will serve the last person in line even if it means staying open past closing time. On Friday morning at 10 am on East Wood Street, the Fish Fry Parade will kick off adding to the excitement during the celebration.
