Mercy Medical Center Shines Blue and Green in Honor of National Donate Life Month

In recognition of National Donate Life Month, Dignity Health has announced that Mercy Medical Center in Redding will be illuminated with blue and green lights. The annual observance in April aims to raise awareness about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation while also honoring those who have saved lives through their selfless act of donation.

Sadly, there are currently more than 100,000 individuals on the national transplant waiting list, with over 20,000 residing in California and nearly 300 in Nevada awaiting organ transplants. Tragically, 17 people lose their lives each day while waiting for a transplant. Despite these challenges, Donor Network West helped facilitate the gifts of 473 organ donors in 2023, leading to 1,358 transplanted organs and positively impacting the lives of 1,188 organ transplant recipients.

Each donor has the potential to save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of over 75 individuals through tissue donation. By making a simple act of donation, individuals can make a significant impact on the lives of others and contribute to the important cause of saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation.
