Trenitalia is set to welcome more than 17 million travelers during the upcoming spring long weekends linked to the holidays of April 25th and May 1st. With a 5% increase compared to 2023 purchases, almost half of these travelers have purchased their tickets through digital channels, reflecting a growing trend among Italians who are increasingly choosing the train as a sustainable mode of transportation for their travels.
Popular destinations for these spring weekends include cities of art such as Florence, Naples, Rome, and Venice, as well as foreign destinations like Switzerland. Seaside destinations in regions like Puglia, Liguria, Sicily, and Calabria are also popular choices among travelers. Additionally, there is a growing number of travelers visiting villages, with favorites including Cortona, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Urbino, Fermo and many more.
