Freshman UConn guard Stephon Castle announces his entry into the 2024 NBA Draft

Andre Drummond, a former standout player for UConn, was the first “one-and-done” player in the school’s history to declare for the NBA Draft. Now, Stephon Castle, a freshman guard from Covington, Georgia, is following in his footsteps. Castle had a standout season with the Huskies and is now declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft after leading the team to a second consecutive national title.

Castle averaged 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game during the 2023-24 season. He was also named Big East’s Freshman of the Year and earned McDonald’s All American recognition as a five-star recruit. His performance on the court was instrumental in helping UConn secure their second consecutive championship.

During crucial moments in the season, Castle shone brightly. He scored 21 points in the Final Four victory over Alabama and added another 15 points in the championship game against Purdue. His contributions alongside teammates Donovan Clingan and Alex Karaban have fueled anticipation for the upcoming NBA Draft. While Clingan has also declared for the draft, Karaban has chosen to maintain his college eligibility.
