The Knesset approves chiropractic profession, marking the end of pretenders.

In a bid to improve access to essential medical equipment, the Ministry of Health has initiated reforms in the distribution of devices. From now on, devices will be provided directly from the health fund, streamlining the process and ensuring that patients receive the care they need.

Inequalities in the health system have been highlighted in a recent report, which revealed that more people are dying in peripheral areas. This underscores the need for healthcare improvements and reforms in these regions.

Prof. Shaul Thazif, Director of the Licensing Division of Medical Professions at the Ministry of Health, has been advocating for changes to regulations for 14 years. The current Minister of Health has taken steps to promote these laws and include transitional provisions for those currently working in Israel’s healthcare field.

During a recent committee meeting, discussions addressed amendments to laws regulating healthcare practice in Israel. Transitional provisions will now recognize studies completed abroad and ease requirements for exams, practical training, and supervised work for individuals already working in the field domestically. These changes aim to encourage immigration and absorption into Israel’s healthcare sector.

The committee also discussed regulations related to exam subjects, supervised work requirements, permits, and practical training completion to obtain certification. The implementation of a ban on unauthorized individuals claiming to be chiropractors has been postponed by two years to allow organizations time to comply with new regulations.

Dr. Yitzhak Cohen emphasized the importance of practical training in completing studies and obtaining certification as a chiropractor during this meeting. MK Yoni Meshriki (Shas) stressed the need for regulatory measures against imposters and charlatans practicing complementary medicine in Israel.

Overall, these reforms aim to improve healthcare accessibility while addressing disparities within Israel’s healthcare system.
