Duplantis breaks his own pole vault world record once again at the Xiamen Diamond League

In the Xiamen Diamond League meeting, Sweden’s Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis broke his own pole vault world record. At just 24 years old, Duplantis is an Olympic, two-time world, and European champion. He cleared 6.24 meters on his first attempt at the Egret Stadium, surpassing his previous record by a mere 1cm which he set in Eugene last year.

Duplantis began the competition at 5.62m and smoothly cleared heights of 5.82m and 6.00m before achieving the new world record, marking his eighth world record in the pole vault discipline. Despite his impressive performance, American Sam Hendricks finished in second place with a best jump of 5.82m, followed by China’s Bokai Huang in third with a jump of 5.72m. It was a thrilling start to the outdoor season for Duplantis, who continues to assert himself as one of the top athletes in the pole vault event.
