The Bahamas played host to the World Athletics Relays 24, which saw Team USA’s dominance in relay events lead up to the Paris 2024 athletics competition. Despite being disqualified in the heats, Botswana men claimed victory in the 4x400m relay.
The event was crucial for athletes looking to secure Olympic quota spots. By the end of the two-day competition, 14 out of 16 spots were filled in each discipline, including the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay, men’s and women’s 4x400m relay, and the mixed 4x400m relay.
Over 1600 athletes gathered in Nassau for the event, including big names like Noah Lyles, Gabby Thomas, Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs, and world champion Femke Bol. The competition was fierce as athletes from around the world vied for top honors.
Team USA’s performances were particularly impressive with standout performances in the men’s and women’s 4x100m relays. The U.S. teams showcased their speed and coordination, leaving their competitors behind and setting world lead times in both races.
