TikTok Introduces New Feature to Combat Misinformation: Automatic Labeling of AI-Generated Content

TikTok is introducing a new feature that will automatically label content created using artificial intelligence (AI) when it is uploaded from specific platforms. This move is aimed at combatting the spread of misinformation on the popular social media platform.

By labeling AI-generated content, TikTok aims to provide transparency to its users. This will allow them to better distinguish between factual information and potentially misleading or inaccurate content. The decision to label AI-generated content was made in response to concerns about the spread of false information on the platform.

During an appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America”, Adam Presser, TikTok’s Head of Operations & Trust and Safety, expressed that the platform’s users and creators are excited about the possibilities that AI presents for creativity and audience engagement. However, TikTok wants to ensure that individuals are able to differentiate between real and fabricated content.

In the past, TikTok has encouraged users to label content that has been generated or heavily edited by AI. The platform also mandates that all AI-generated content containing realistic images, audio, and video be labeled as such. By implementing automatic labeling for AI-created content, TikTok is taking a proactive approach to promoting transparency and trust within its community.
