A group of Timberline School students recently returned from competing in the National Science Bowl held in the Washington, D.C. area. The team, made up of 8th graders Krish Joshi, Neil Nallabirudu, Ishani Atluri, Adwaiyth Muthuranam, and Evan Midtlyng, won their spot in the competition after earning first place at the regional level earlier in the school year.
The students dedicated many months to preparing for the tournament and commented on the rigorous study schedule required for such a broad competition. Ishani Atluri stressed the importance of hard work and emphasized that effort directly correlates with results. Despite finishing with four wins and four losses, Julie Stevens, the team’s coach, was incredibly proud of their determination and teamwork. She noted that the students were self-motivated and eager to continue improving their skills in hopes of competing in the high school division in the future.
Neil Nallabirudu and Krish Joshi enjoyed the experience of meeting new people during the competition. In addition to competing, they had an opportunity to explore Washington D.C., visiting historical sites such as Ford’s Theater, Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument as well as Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. The trip was memorable and educational for them.
The Timberline School team should be commended for their hard work, dedication
