Health care providers worldwide have a global imperative to address climate change, as it is not only an environmental challenge but also a threat to the health and well-being of individuals globally. The University of California Health (UC Health) is committed to providing exceptional clinical care, educating future health professionals, and conducting research to improve the health and quality of life for Californians.
In response to this global imperative, UC Health has signed the White House and Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Sector Climate Pledge. This commitment involves collaborating with over 130 other organizations and 900 hospitals to develop comprehensive and equity-focused climate resilience plans across their system. By doing so, UC Health is taking a proactive approach to addressing climate change challenges in the health sector.
To showcase their progress in fulfilling the Health Sector Climate Pledge, UC Health has released a report highlighting advancements made in individual health centers and outlining the next steps in their resilience planning journey.
