USATF recently announced that it will be participating in the World U20 Championships in Lima, Peru in August. This decision comes after consultation with World Athletics and the Local Organizing Committee, providing assurance of safety measures in place for the event.
Initially, USATF had decided not to send a U.S. team due to concerns about travel advisories, competitive readiness, and safety. However, after careful consideration and consultation with experts, USATF has now confirmed that they will be sending a team to represent Team USA at the Championships taking place August 26-31, 2024 in Lima, Peru.
The safety and well-being of athletes, coaches, managers, and staff remain a top priority for USATF. They are committed to providing the highest level of competitive opportunities for their athletes on their journey to success. This marks the first time the U.S. has participated in the World U20 Championships since 2021 when they did not attend due to safety concerns and COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
