In the third session of his World Championship semi-final, Welsh qualifier Jak Jones took control over 2015 champion Stuart Bingham by opening up a 13-10 lead. Bingham responded to Jones’ early lead by reeling off five consecutive frames, boosted by three half-century breaks. Despite a superb 104 break from Bingham, only seven of the eight scheduled frames were completed due to the protracted nature of some frames.
Meanwhile, Kyren Wilson also holds a lead in his semi-final match against David Gilbert, with the match set to conclude later in the day. Jones, currently ranked 44th in the world, defeated Judd Trump in the quarter-finals and is aiming to become the lowest-ranked finalist since Shaun Murphy in 2005.
Bingham struggled to find his rhythm throughout the match and made several errors that allowed Jones to capitalize and take control. Despite a century break in the final frame, Bingham’s loose safety shots and missed opportunities allowed Jones to maintain his strong position and reach the final unphased by the pressure.
