Woodbridge High School Swim Team Takes First Place at Spring Meet of Champions, With Zara Masud Standing Out as Swimmer of the Meet

Woodbridge High School swim teams recently made a splash at the Spring Meet of Champions at Mt. SAC in Walnut. The girls team claimed the first-place title, while the boys team took third in their divisions. Coach James Hickson commended the combined efforts of both teams, leading to an overall victory for Woodbridge High. Senior Zara Masud stood out for the girls, winning the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, earning her the title of Swimmer of the Meet. Meanwhile, senior Jacob Wang was the top performer for the boys, securing the first-place spot in the 50-yard freestyle.

Over at Irvine High School, senior Cozy Zimmerman made a commitment to play beach volleyball for Concordia University Irvine. Coached by her mother, Holiday, who also coaches Irvine High’s beach volleyball team, Cozy has been playing volleyball for seven years. With an illustrious career in indoor volleyball, helping the Vaqueros secure a Pacific Coast League crown, Cozy transitioned to beach volleyball three years ago. She was part of the school’s inaugural team and recently completed their first season.

The baseball team at Northwood High School is brimming with high hopes for their current season in the Pacific Coast League. With a successful streak of 12 wins out of 16 league games, Northwood is in the running for the league title against Beckman. The team attributes its success to outstanding starting pitching from players like Paul Grossman and Casey Euper, timely hitting from junior Carter Liu, and solid defense.
