Cowgirls Earn Spot in UTR Sports NIT Tournament for Another Year

Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team has secured a spot in postseason play for the second year in a row. They will be competing in the UTR NIT tournament, which is scheduled to take place from May 5-8 in Bradenton, Florida.

The full bracket for the tournament will be announced at a later date. The Cowgirls had a successful season with a 16-10 record, finishing third in the Mountain West Conference with a 7-3 record. Three Cowgirls received All-Mountain West honors, with Noesjka Brink and Sophie Zehender making the All-Singles Team and Violetta Borodina and Zehender making the All-Doubles Team.

Wyoming will be competing against teams like Colorado, West Virginia, Tulsa, Liberty, Appalachian State, Pacific, and Saint Mary’s in this year’s tournament. Fans can watch all the matches of the tournament on Amazon Prime Video. Last season, the Cowgirls finished with a 2-1 record in the inaugural NIT tournament.

The team is excited about this opportunity to compete once again and showcase their talent on a national stage. “We are thrilled to have made it back to postseason play,” said Head Coach Patrick McLennan. “Our players have worked hard all season long and deserve this opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in college tennis.”
