Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced on Friday that Moscow is open to engaging in talks to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. She emphasized that any resolution must be grounded in the present reality and take into account Russia’s security concerns. During a press conference, Zakharova noted that Ukraine must commit to being a militarily neutral nation moving forward. However, she also pointed out that Russia’s conditions are similar to those that Ukraine has previously rejected.
Zakharova stated that Russia will not attend the upcoming conference on Ukraine in Switzerland, set to take place in June, or any other peace-related events initiated by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. She explained that Switzerland does not have the authority to host such discussions and Russia will not participate in any peace talks organized by Zelensky.
