This French Château Could Soon Become the Most Expensive House in the World

The magnificent Château d’Armainvilliers, a French residence located in Meurthe-et-Moselle, is set to become the most expensive house in the world if it goes for its reported asking price. According to Mansion Global, the property spans 3,961 hectares and boasts 100 rooms across three floors. It includes three elevators, 17 themed bedroom suites, and five salons.

The estate also features an array of amenities such as stables for 50 horses, a beauty parlor, hammam, and housing for staff members. After Edmond’s death, the home was passed down to various members of the Rothschild family before being sold to the King of Morocco in the 1980s. However, it has been unutilized since its purchase by an owner from the Middle East in 2008.

Ignace Meuwissen, cofounder of Whisper Auctions who is handling the sale, told Mansion Global that there has been interest from potential buyers from East Europe, Asia, and even Mongolia. Despite most properties being sold on a whispering basis with confidentiality changes in ownership mostly behind closed doors. Meuwissen explained that this property will likely change hands soon due to its high value and unique features that make it stand out among other estates.
