In Ferndale, one of the worst-hit areas, several buildings were damaged by the strong winds and heavy rains. An apartment complex on 9 Mile Road and Paxton Street sustained significant damage, with part of the roof blowing off and a resident on the fifth floor being injured by falling debris. The extent of her injuries was not immediately clear, but the executive director of the Ferndale Housing Commission mentioned that some residents might need to be relocated to a hotel due to the damage.
Businesses along 9 Mile Road in Ferndale also experienced damage from the storm, including a restaurant, auto repair shop, and vintage store. Vogue Vintage owner Steve Humphreys arrived to find water seeping in from holes in the ceiling and was surprised to discover that the roof had blown off.
